200 Billion Venture Capital for Startups

The brand new report of Gust about the success and impact of Startup Accelerators worldwide brings up some exciting facts and figures. In 2016 a total of US$209 Billion has been invested in 11681 Startups by 579 Accelerators. About 50% of the venture capital has been invested in the United States and Canada, about 25 percent in Europe. The business model of the Accelerators changed dramatically. Due to the fact, that the small number of 178 exits in 2015 was insufficient for the funding of the operations, 90% of the Accelerators worldwide are planing to increase their revenues by alternative revenue models. It seems that the Accelerators are hitting the same ground as venture capital funds do.
